You are looking for nature and peace, some time for yourself in the mountains or in the forest, but nothing comes of it, because:

That's why we've researched places that are less well-known and hopefully offer you an undisturbed escape. Of course, we can't guarantee you'll be the only person there, but chances are you'll find some seclusion are good.
1. Val Cama: the place where the trees are protected!
We'll start with our favorite: The Val Cama, located south of the Alps, has been a natural forest reserve since 2007! Until 2057, no more trees will be cut down or any other human interventions will occur. We're thrilled!
The area stretches for 15 kilometers and reaches elevations of up to 2,200 meters. Therefore, it's no surprise that the region is a wonderful place for hiking. Our favorite: the Two Lakes Hike from Cama. After 2.5 hours, you'll reach Lagh Cama, and if you still haven't had enough, you can continue up to Lagh de Sambrog at 2,076 meters.

2. The Fricktal High Trail: Hiking fun in the Mittelland
You can't get higher than the Swiss Alps in this country, but the Jura also has a lot to offer. Take the Fricktal High Trail , for example: from Mettnau via Frick to Rheinfeld, the hike along the high trail takes up to 16 hours. It's a total of 60 kilometers. Those who enjoy hiking and are good at it can plan several days for a trip here. Families with children can experience the high trail in sections. The short hike from Bürersteig via Laubberg (648 meters) to the wine-growing village of Mettau takes about 2.5 hours and offers barbecue pits halfway along the trail.

3. Small but beautiful: Calanca Valley
In the beautiful south of Switzerland, there are still small, hidden places like the Calanca Valley. The small side valley of the Misox River belongs to the Italian-speaking part of Graubünden.
Whether it's the natural Al Mulin campsite for up to 15 people, the Baumeisli construction wagon for couples, singles, and small families, or the Maiensäss group accommodation: everything in the Calanca Valley is kept pristine and easy to navigate. In addition to the beautiful overnight accommodations, the village also offers hikes, a summer camp with supervised daytime activities for all ages, and dry-stone walling courses. Learn more here .

4. Nendaz: 30 minutes from Europe's largest underground lake
Let's stay in the south of Switzerland: the Nendaz region in Valais awaits you. With 250 kilometers of hiking trails, 200 kilometers of bike trails, and a zip line 1.4 kilometers below the surface. Even though you're not completely alone here, the crowds are well spread out. The resort also offers excellent infrastructure. You can rent e-bikes, experience an escape game through the old village of Haut-Nendaz, and use the mountain railways for a relatively low price (from 35 francs). If you get bored, Europe's largest underground lake is just a 30-minute drive away!

Located in the Freiburg Prealps, Lake Schwarzsee is the starting point for the high-altitude trail through the Breccaschlund gorge . Glaciers once formed this nature reserve. Limestone cliffs offer a striking contrast to the green alpine meadows, and in about four hours, you'll return to the lake. Up to six alpine inns await you, so you can stop for a break at any time.
For families, the easy lakeside walk with swimming fun is no longer an option.
And that's it. We wish you a wonderful summer on your trips to wonderful places!
