What can the Sympatex® laminate do?
The 3-layer laminate from Sympatex®, used to produce our TreeJacket Rain, has been optimized so that the water vapor from your body can escape outward, but no (rain)water can penetrate from the outside in.
How does it work? Between two textile layers is the Sympatex® Copolyester membrane, which forms a closed surface and thus keeps rain away from you. The hydrophilic (water-attracting) areas in the membrane simultaneously ensure that water vapor molecules emitted by your body can pass outward.
The special copolyester structure of the Sympatex® membrane means that its hydrophilic (water-attracting) areas expand with increasing activity, thus increasing breathability in situations where you really need it.
Thus, Sympatex® not only relies on physical principles, but also uses chemical processes to our advantage with this innovative membrane.
