Nature knows no waste. Why should clothes?
Every piece of clothing leaves its mark. Our goal is for these marks to largely disappear. That's why the materials in our products should, at the end of their life, become raw materials for new products again. We call this Circularity.

Timeline
This is how we achieve our goal
2023 The first biodegradable NIKIN Circular T-shirt made from naNea® Reached
Together with OceanSafe, we created our first Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold T-shirt. An important step on our journey towards a circular product world.
2024 "Circular Cashback" for T-shirts and hoodies Reached
With our take-back system, circular products can be returned. This keeps valuable materials in circulation and provides a basis for new products.
2025 The first circular winter hat made from NOOSA® (corn starch) Reached
With NOOSA® and NOOCYCLE® technology, we are introducing a corn starch-based material into our collection for the first time, expanding our circular range.
2026 New products featuring RCO100™ by Säntis Textiles Reached
Together with Säntis Textiles, we are expanding the use of RCO100™ and incrementally incorporating recycled cotton into more products.
2027 Other circularity projects (e.g. slides with Ochsner Shoes)
Together with strong partners, we are working on further products, materials, and projects that bring us step by step closer to our goal.
2030 All NIKIN products are 100% circular.
Our goal is a collection whose materials can become part of something new at the end of their life cycle, and that causes no harm to nature.

Circularity Score
Products

We want to make circularity measurable. That's why we developed our own Circularity Score. We use it to evaluate each product based on criteria such as material, design, service, and transparency, making our progress visible.

FAQ
Frequently Asked
Questions about
Circularity
What does Circularity mean at NIKIN?
For NIKIN, a circular economy means creating products that do not harm nature and remain in a closed loop. The focus is on extending their lifespan, for example, through repairs. Only at the very end is a product either composted or recycled, without losing quality. We are doing everything we can to make all our products fully circular by 2030, thereby actively contributing to a more sustainable world and a cleaner environment.
What is the Circularity Score?
With our Circularity Score, we evaluate each product based on criteria such as material, design, service, and transparency. This allows us to make our progress visible and show how close a product already is to our goal of 100% circularity.
What is naNea® by OceanSafe?
naNea® is an innovative material developed by our partner OceanSafe. It was specially designed for the circular economy and forms the basis for our first Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold products. This way, materials can become part of something new again at the end of their life cycle.
What is NOOSA®?
NOOSA® is an innovative material based on corn starch and was specially developed for the circular economy. Thanks to NOOCYCLE® technology, it can be recycled again and again without losing quality. Together, we are gradually integrating this material into our products and getting closer to our goal of 100% circularity.
What is RCO100™ from Säntis Textiles?
RCO100™ is an innovative material from Säntis Textiles, consisting entirely of discarded textiles and cutting waste. Together, we are gradually integrating this material into our products, demonstrating how new cotton products can be created from existing resources.
How does "Circular Cashback" work?
Once your circular product is worn out, you can return it to us. You will receive a portion of the purchase price back. The materials remain in circulation and can later become part of something new again. All information on returns can be found directly via the QR code in the product or on our website.
Can I return older products too?
Currently, only our circular products can be returned with "Circular Cashback". You can identify these by the corresponding note on the product page and the sewn-in QR code in the product. Our goal is to continuously expand the return system in the future.
Have circular products already been recycled and processed into new products?
Yes, initial recycling processes have already been successfully tested together with our partner OceanSafe. We are still at the beginning, as only a few products have been returned so far. With each returned product, we come one step closer to our goal of a closed material loop.
What are the benefits of Circularity for people and nature?
The circular economy helps us use resources for longer and avoid waste. At the same time, it leads to the creation of products designed for the longest possible use and recycling. This brings us closer to our goal of producing clothing with the least possible impact on nature.
