Community

Together,
we can
achieve more.

Our purpose is "Grow a community to plant trees and protect nature." Because we believe that our greatest impact extends far beyond our own products. When people, businesses, and organizations become actively involved together, we can do so much more for nature. That's precisely what we want to achieve by bringing our community together, inspiring them, and motivating them to participate.

TOGETHER

How Our Community Gets Active

  • Together for nature

During TreePlanting Days, Neophyte Days, Clean Ups, or excursions, we work together and get to know nature better.

  • Learning together

At our TreeHouseTalks, we bring together people who share their knowledge and passion, from biodiversity and wildlife to circular economy and sustainable consumption.

  • Develop products
    together

Our community helps shape NIKIN. Their ideas flow directly into new products and projects through crowd designs, surveys, and product tests.

  • Over 4,000 co-owners

In 2022, over 4,000 people became co-owners of NIKIN through our crowdinvesting, making them an even greater part of our story.

  • Together
    with companies

We also develop new solutions with companies, universities and organizations. From research projects like TexCircle to circular products with strong partners.

Together with the municipality and the Egliswil Nature and Bird Protection Association, we actively committed ourselves to the protection of biodiversity. On NIKIN Neophyte Day, numerous helpers removed invasive plant species, creating more space for native flora and insects. After an introduction by experts, small groups got to work outdoors – with impressive results: a total of around 20 neophyte bags of 60 liters each were collected, which corresponds to approximately over 200 kilograms of plant material. After the effort, we ended the day comfortably with a barbecue, food, and drinks. Thanks to everyone who diligently pitched in!

The TreeHouse Talk with Diego Walder revolved around life outdoors, entrepreneurship, and the story behind the traditional Spatz brand. Diego recounted how he brought Spatz back into Swiss hands, why outdoor culture means much more than just adventure to him, and what we can learn from a simple life in nature. Guests gained exciting insights into the brand's development and an exclusive look at the collaboration between Spatz and NIKIN. We ended the evening comfortably in front of the TreeHouse in Aarau's old town – with homemade "Schlangenbrot" (stick bread) cooked over a fire.

At the first TreeHouse Talk of the year, Swiss biologist and adventurer David Bittner took us into the wilderness of Alaska. For over 20 years, he has been researching the behavior of grizzly bears and shared impressive up-close experiences. The talk was not only about the animals themselves but also about topics such as respect, trust, and risk and decision-making. A fascinating and inspiring evening about our relationship with nature and ourselves.

Our mushroom event with Ruedi Jean-Richard on Wednesday, October 1st, was completely booked out and a great success! Together with the mushroom inspector from Aarau, we roamed through the Aarau forests in the best (mushroom-picking) weather, learned to distinguish edible from inedible species, and listened to exciting stories about the world of mushrooms. To top it all off, the collected finds were prepared together, and delicious mushroom bruschetta was enjoyed. An evening full of nature, knowledge, and culinary delight!

What really makes good coffee – and how sustainable can the industry be? At the fourth TreeHouse Talk, Nicolas Vuille (Caffè Uno) and Philippe Gacond (Home Barista Shop) shared their expertise and passion for coffee with us. In addition to exciting insights and an honest exchange, our guests were able to discover a special highlight: the new forest coffee with spruce needle fermentation. The new Coffee Shirts – some made from coffee grounds – also sparked curiosity. An all-round successful evening centered on sustainable coffee enjoyment.
