Scary Halloween costume: the tree monster

We love trees: They provide us with the air we breathe, are home to many animals, and the livelihood of people all over the world. But imagine there was a tree monster. It would live in the treetops high above our heads, swinging from branch to branch and terrifying everyone who came near. Because it camouflages itself with leaves, it's barely recognizable—and it delights in every frightened face. That's the tree monster, and you or your children can transform into one for Halloween.
What you need
- 1 old T-shirt
- safety pins
- collected leaves
Step 1
Search the forest for leaves of different colors. Sort the collected leaves by size and form a row, starting with the largest and ending with the smallest. To attach the leaves together, we recommend braiding the leaf stems. The weaving principle is similar to that of a flower wreath, but leave the ends closed. The length of such a leaf garland should be as long as your T-shirt. We recommend braiding between one and four of these leaf garlands.
Step 2
Now place the leaf garlands on the shirt however you like best. To attach them to the shirt, use safety pins. One at the top, one at the bottom, and one at the middle of the leaf garland. This will ensure it stays in place. Arrange your leaf garlands as you like. Your Halloween costume is complete. Please put it on carefully so you don't injure yourself on the safety pins.
Halloween costume to dream about: the tree princess or the tree prince

There's something calming, something contemplative, almost magical about trees. It's no wonder, then, that tree princesses and tree princes love to frolic in trees. They chirp sweet songs along with the birds, sun themselves on the branches of the tallest trees, and watch the people strolling beneath them. And every now and then—very rarely—they glide down from their trees, survey the world, and are only recognizable by their treetops. You could feel that way on Halloween, too. We'll show you how to become a tree princess or tree prince.
What you need
- 1 old hairband
- 1 pair of scissors
- Color (if you want to be even more creative)
- Nylon wire or cord
- Glue
- textile tape
- collected branches
- collected leaves
- collected acorns
Step 1
Gather branches, leaves, and oak twigs. Arrange the branches on the left and right sides of the headband as you like best. Secure them with nylon wire or string.
Step 2
Place the leaves between the branches on the left and right sides. It's recommended to decorate with the larger leaves at the top and the smaller leaves at the top. The leaves can be attached with nylon wire, string, or glue.
Step 3
The collected acorns should be securely attached to the headbands or leaves with glue.
Step 4
To make wearing the crown more comfortable, we recommend wrapping the branches and headband on the left and right sides with a textile ribbon. This will conceal the cords and nylon wires and make wearing the crown more comfortable. If you like, you can decorate the tree crown with paint.
You'll quickly become a tree prince or princess. Just give it a try!
