Since September 22nd, meteorological autumn has been here. The days are getting noticeably shorter, the weather gloomy, and that's why we're offering you a few tips on how to make your home truly cozy. – Reading time: 4 minutes

Autumn Vibes

Autumn is here – and with it comes the retreat to your own four walls. When it gets unpleasant outside because winter is approaching, it should be all the more beautiful inside. After all, that's precisely the charm of autumn: enjoying the play of colors on the trees, but also rainy days from the safety of your own home, counteracting the gradually slumbering nature with bright colors and atmospheric lighting.

We'll show you how it's done!

  • More cozy: In summer and during hot weather, we reach for cool fabrics that feel comfortable against the skin and don't immediately make us break out in a sweat on our chairs or sofas. In autumn, it's the exact opposite. Whether it's a blanket or a pillow, you can never have enough fluffiness. Cozy blankets in the living room and fluffy bedding in the bedroom effectively deflect cooler temperatures and visually add warmth.
  • Warm colors: The fresh ocean colors of the summer months quickly feel chilly in the fall. Mint green, turquoise, and light blue induce chills. So bring on the warm colors in rust tones, warm dark yellow, and perhaps purple and dark blue.
  • Lanterns and candles: When the rain is pouring down and it's getting dark earlier, candles can create a cozy atmosphere in your home. A few strategically placed candle holders and lanterns brighten up dark corners. If you have pets and small children to consider, you can still create mood lighting – with dimmable candle-shaped lightbulbs!
  • Warmer curtains: The light, airy summer curtains can now be put away for the winter. Thicker, warmer versions also visually keep the cold and bad weather at bay and, especially in warm colors, are a real asset to any room.
  • Carpets: Warm feet are the result of fluffy, cozy carpets. If you have tile or laminate flooring, which is pleasant in the warmer months, you can add comfort in the winter with carpets. Thick, warm fabrics everywhere also retain heat better, making them more appealing than just visually.
  • Create cozy oases: A comfortable armchair, a side table, and a floor lamp – and you have a cozy little island where you can retreat with a good book. If the rain is pelting against the window outside, even better.
  • Autumnal plants: Whether fresh or dried, as potted or cut flowers, plants can be used specifically to create the mood in your home. A collage of autumn leaves in a vintage picture frame is just as fitting for the season as an arrangement of poinsettias, which come in a variety of beautiful colors. And pumpkins enhance any decor with their bright orange color.
  • Drinking tea: Teas, whether black or herbal, warm you from the inside. And a steaming teapot is a sight that simply brings joy. Since tea also revives the spirits and helps prevent colds, you should always have a pot ready.
