Capsule Wardrobe – Tipps vom NIKIN Product Team - NIKIN CH

The vision: Mastering everyday life with a few, high-quality, and easily combinable pieces. The legendary Susie Faux once presented only seven such pieces. Today, a capsule wardrobe is often limited to 30-40 items, including shoes and a coat. The goal? To create a fresh and new outfit every day with this minimalist selection.

From sustainability to time saving

Those who commit to a capsule wardrobe are choosing a more conscious approach to fashion. This isn't just about the financial aspect, but also about making a significant contribution to sustainability. Less pressure to buy, less stress from making decisions in the morning, more space in the room, and, above all, less fashion waste—doesn't that sound like a win-win situation for us and our environment?

From vision to reality - our product team's advice

Start by taking an honest inventory of your closet. Tip: Anything you haven't worn in the last three months might be worth getting rid of. And what about the discarded items? Sell them or donate them to a secondhand store.

1) The building blocks of the capsule wardrobe

Think about mix-and-match colors, basic elements like jeans and trousers, and a mix of tops and bottoms. And the shoes? Five pairs should be enough, from sneakers to boots.

2) Sustainability in every piece

When choosing items for your capsule wardrobe, focus on sustainable and ethically produced pieces. They may be more expensive, but they represent a better fashion industry and often last longer.

3) Care for longevity

When you choose high-quality pieces, you want them to last. Proper washing, proper hanging, and good storage are essential.

4) Individuality with accessories

Even though a capsule wardrobe is all about minimalism, that doesn't mean it has to be boring. With the right accessories, you can create new looks time and time again.

5) Challenges? Only in your head!

The transition can be challenging for some. But remember: It's not about giving up, but about conscious consumption. If 37 items sound too few, start with more and gradually reduce.

At the heart of the capsule wardrobe concept is the message: value more with less. In times of fast fashion and overconsumption, this approach can be the key to a fashionable and sustainable future. Our tip: Just give it a try!
