While researching the most beautiful Christmas markets in Switzerland, we naturally checked Switzerland Tourism and found that there was already quite an impressive selection of Christmas markets on offer. But then this list really blew us away.
Since we haven't been to all of these Swiss Christmas markets, and frankly haven't looked at all of them online, our list isn't exhaustive. If you're convinced we've forgotten a beautiful Swiss Christmas market, please leave us a comment!
Europe's Best Christmas Market is Swiss
One of the oldest Swiss Christmas markets is the Basel Christmas Market. And according to European Best Destinations, it is also the best Christmas market in Europe in 2021. A big plus for the market is its long duration. From November 23rd to December 23rd, you can happily stroll among 130 stalls on Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz. You can find opening hours here.
The Special Swiss Christmas Market
By visiting this Swiss Christmas market, you're not just doing yourself good! A small Christmas market will take place at Biberstein Castle on December 2nd and 3rd. Handicrafts, Christmas decorations, and much more will be offered. The proceeds will go to the foundation that uses the castle as a home and workplace for people with disabilities. The Most Festive Swiss Christmas Market
You'll find arguably the most festive Swiss Christmas market slightly elevated in beautiful Einsiedeln. From December 1st to 10th, you can stroll from Klosterplatz down to the center of the small town and let yourself be enchanted by the festive atmosphere. A big plus is the high probability of snow, which makes the Christmas market even more beautiful. You can find more information here.
Swiss Christmas Market on Lake Geneva
From November 23rd to December 24th, Montreux Noël invites visitors. With several locations, including the lakeside promenade and Chillon Castle, this Christmas market also impresses with up to 150 stalls and a medieval market. The beautiful atmosphere on the lake between colorful lights and cozy wooden chalets is particularly captivating. Opening hours, locations, and special highlights are described here.
NIKIN at the Most Beautiful Swiss Christmas Markets
This year, you can also find NIKIN at several beautiful Christmas markets! Firstly, at the Zurich Christmas Village at Bellevue from November 23rd to December 14th. Also, at the lovingly designed Bernese Star Market right next to the Bundeshaus from November 24th to December 18th. And because we truly love Christmas and Christmas markets, you'll also find us in a third location: at the Lieblingsstück Christmas Market in wintery Aarau from December 4th to 23rd.
