Why November is Suitable for Planting
Actually, the garden is already prepared for winter from October. Many plants have already been pruned, the cuttings removed, and the leaves that haven't fallen yet will do so very soon. The garden and gardeners could take a well-deserved winter break. But the opportunity to introduce new plants now should not be missed. Since many trees, shrubs, and other plants are already surviving on a low flame, it is easier for them to withstand transplanting. The following groups of plants are particularly suitable.

Fruit Trees
Fruit trees and shrubs purchased with bare roots are often cheaper than comparable potted specimens. And precisely these trees can be planted well in November before the first frost sets in! For this, the rootstock must be warmed in a lukewarm water bath and freed from adhering dirt. In the meantime, the planting hole is prepared and enriched with a little humus or compost. Carefully insert, straighten, shovel back soil, and firm it down. Slender, tall trees appreciate support during their first few years of life.
Vegetables
Hardy autumn vegetables can still be sown in October and November. Since many of them grow quickly, hopes for a harvest are quite realistic. Particularly suitable, in addition to carrots and parsnips, are cabbage varieties and root parsley.

Flower Bulbs and Ornamental Shrubs
The foundations for the coming floral display are also laid in November, as many flower bulbs should be planted exactly now. Bulbs for roses, tulips, crocuses, and daffodils need to go into the ground now, as they require a frost period to sprout even more beautifully in spring. Ornamental shrubs can also be planted before the first frost, usually before mid-November.
Gardening Together in November
When the golden summer nights give way to misty autumn evenings, opportunities for extended outdoor activities diminish. All the more wonderful it is to enjoy gardening together and implement garden design ideas with the family. Planning and purchasing plants bring a lot of joy – especially since you can admire the result just three months later. Being active in the garden is a sustainable and meaningful way to spend leisure time. Visit the garden center one last time and dedicate yourselves to this nature-oriented activity that enriches both people and gardens!
