„Green Dating“: Umweltschutz und die Liebe - NIKIN CH

Dating for a better world

The fact is: Those who uncompromisingly represent their values in everyday life and occasionally have to defend them don't want to do so in a relationship. They desire harmony and agreement on this important point, especially when they don't always find complete understanding among parents, colleagues, and friends. From this perspective, it certainly seems sensible to limit the choice of partner to those who share one's own views or can at least understand them. The fact that we are moving further and further away from a romantic idea of falling in love is a price that more and more singles are willing to pay.

Birds of a feather flock together

In practice, for example, Tinder and Bumble users can include veganism, vegetarianism, and climate change as interests in their profiles. OkCupid even filters out all potential partners who consider climate change to be fake news. Platforms like Grazer, GreenSingles, Veggly, and the German-language "Gleichklang" are exclusively open to people with a strong ecological mindset.

Future of dating is…green?

Given the growing realization that infinite growth is not possible on a finite planet, the number of people who want to live sustainably is increasing. Therefore, it's reasonable to assume that attitudes toward nature and animals will become even more important when choosing a life partner, as well as in the composition of one's circle of friends. Established dating sites will likely feel compelled to meet their customers where they are—and to integrate appropriate features to do so.

How have you experienced environmental protection in your relationship? Has a relationship ever broken down due to differing viewpoints, or have you found a partner who shares your beliefs?
