Double the trees, double the impact: On Green Friday weekend, we plant two trees for every product sold instead of one. This doubles the positive impact on nature instead of participating in the extreme price wars surrounding Black Friday.
Double impact on the environment
We typically plant one tree for every product sold—on Green Friday weekend, we even plant two. To help you visualize the environmental impact that double the number of trees can have, here are some calculation examples:
- Oxygen: A small tree, about 20 meters tall, produces approximately 10,000 liters of oxygen per day. This is enough for approximately five to ten people, who need between 500 and 2,000 liters of oxygen per day. If you buy a NIKIN product on Green Friday, your two planted trees could produce enough oxygen for up to 20 people.
- Dust filters: Trees are considered the green lungs of cities for a reason, as they filter particles and dust from the air through their leaves and needles. One tree filters up to 100 kilograms of dust per year. Your two NIKIN trees together could filter up to 200 kilograms per year.
- CO2 storage: The amount of CO2 a tree absorbs depends on the tree's age, its wood density, and its growth rate, but soil quality, climate, and water supply also play a role. A rough example: A beech tree in our latitudes absorbs approximately 12.5 kilograms of CO2. To absorb one ton of CO2, the beech tree would have to live to be 80 years old—or two trees together would have to live to be 40 years old.
- Animals: Trees are home to various animal species. In addition to various insects, woodpeckers, martens, dormice, squirrels, and bird species also live in trees – of course, the inhabitants vary depending on the country and climate zone. Researchers estimate that there are approximately as many animals living in each tree as there are inhabitants in a medium-sized city. So, on Green Friday, you can provide a home for an enormous number of animals with your trees.
