Wie NIKIN die ersten Früchte der harten Arbeit erntet: die Gründungsgeschichte Teil 3 - NIKIN CH

In our three-part blog series, we show you how two childhood friends founded NIKIN with the aim of giving something back to nature. In the third part, learn how Robin and Nicholas chose the new logo and who even got it tattooed.

The NIKIN team

The NIKIN team is growing and growing.

Following the rapid growth in orders, Robin and Nicholas decided to register NIKIN as a limited liability company (GmbH). NIKIN was officially born. NIKIN was registered in the commercial register on January 1, 2018. Meanwhile, Nicholas's wife, Carla Hänny, joined the team and took over all financial matters. They also hired their first employee, Jonas. He took over all logistics – and still works there today.

In the summer of 2018, Nicholas and Robin decided that NIKIN needed a new logo. They met one Sunday afternoon at Lake Sempach. Robin brought along several logos he had designed himself. The two agreed on the best few and sent them to all their friends via WhatsApp, asking for their opinions. All the logos had a similar style. To add a bit of variety, they also sent one that was completely different and wasn't actually on the list. This completely different logo was the clear winner of the vote and is now the official NIKIN logo, appearing on every product.

NIKIN has now hired support for Jonas in the warehouse. Regula takes over logistics and, together with Jonas, handles the countless orders. To gain more storage capacity, NIKIN moves to the Wisa-Gloria site in Lenzburg. NIKIN quickly rents more and more space there. The peak of orders is Black Friday (or Green Friday for NIKIN) 2018. Logistics packs more packages in one day than ever before. The postal driver, who picks up the packages and has his first day of work on that day, even has to stack the packages on the passenger seat.

NIKIN planted two trees for every product sold on Green Friday. Regula and Jonas had their hands full packing the many orders.

Shortly after Green Friday, the next highlight follows. Around Christmas, more and more people want to do something good for the environment and order from NIKIN. Since NIKIN wants to continue hand-labeling each tree certificate, they hire dedicated employees to write the names on the certificates during the Christmas season.

The hard-working warehouse employees fill out each certificate by hand, even during the Christmas rush.

NIKIN is now so well known that an enthusiastic customer even got the logo tattooed.

As orders continue to come in, NIKIN is able to employ more and more people. As of October 2019, NIKIN employs 28 people, working every day to advance global reforestation.
